After uninstalling Acrobat and running the removal tool one more time, I deleted that whole damn folder, and the subsequent reinstall of Acrobat finally worked correctly. If I remember correctly it was C:\ProgramData\Adobe\SLStore. It turned out that, even after uninstalling Acrobat, and running the Adobe Acrobat removal tool, a surprising number of Acrobat files (that seemed to have something to do with licensing) were being left untouched in an obscure installation folder. I won't bore you with a recap of the time I spent fighting with it, but I will mention that I cursed the Junior High School dropouts that Adobe clearly favors in its software development department. Right-click on the Adobe executable (AcroRd32.exe or some other file name depending on the version) and pick Properties. Go to the following default location: C:\Program Files (x86) \Adobe\Acrobat Reader DC\Reader. Anyway, as usual with the garbageware produced by Adobe, it drove me nuts trying to fix the problem. Open Explorer or press Windows + E to launch it on the PC. I'm not sure that's exactly the same problem as what you're seeing. After launching, the Acrobat (or Distiller) window would appear on the screen for less than a second, and then immediately disappear.
